Tales of the Green Garter Snake

Garter snakes are often kept as pets, they are relatively harmless, although some species do possess a mild neurotoxic venom. However, it is not dangerous to humans

While most species are classified as harmless (non-venomous), their bite can cause minor swelling or itching in humans, and anyone bitten by a garter snake should clean the bite thoroughly. It is not ultimately a cause for concern. Allergic reactions to the saliva have been known, but cases are extremely rare.

They mostly eat toads, frogs, slugs, and worms, also they will eat almost anything that they can overpower

THE DANGERS OF GARDEN GRASS SNAKES

Garden grass snakes also known as GARTER snakes (Thamnophissirtalis) can be dangerous;

Yes, green snakes, not rattlesnakes, here's why:

A just wedded couple in Lagos (the Phillips) had a lot of potted plants.
During a recent cold spell, the wife was bringing a lot of them indoors (the plants) to protect them from a possible freeze. It turned out that a little green garden snake is hidden in one of the  plants.
She brought in all of the plants and when it (the snake) had warmed up a bit, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the sofa.
She let out a very loud scream, her husband (who was taking a shower) ran into the living room naked to see what the problem was. She told him there was a snake under the sofa.
He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it.
About that time the family dog (bully rot) came and cold-nosed him from behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over the floor.
His wife thought he had a heart attack, so she covered him up, told him to lie still and called an ambulance.
The attendants rushed in, would not listen to his protest, loaded him on the stretcher and started carrying him out.
About that time the snake came out from under the sofa and the emergency medical technician saw it and dropped his end of the stretcher, that is when the man (husband) broke his leg.
While he was still at the hospital the wife still had the problem of the snake in the house so she decided to call Mr. Martin (a neighbour) who volunteered to capture the snake.

He armed himself with a roll-up newspaper and began poking under the couch. Soon he decided it was gone and told the woman that the snake is gone; she later sat on the sofa in relief but while relaxing, her hand dangled in between the cushions, where she felt the snake wriggling around.

She screamed and fainted, the snake rushed back, Mr. Martin saw her lying there passed out tries to use CPR to revive her.
Right about that time Mrs. Martin returned from shopping (at SHOPRITE store) saw her husband's mouth on the woman's mouth, so she slammed her husband in the back of the head with a bag which contains canned goods, knocking him out and cutting his scalp to a point where it needed stitches.

The noise woke Mrs. Phillips from her dead faint and saw her neighbour (Mr. Martin) lying on the floor with his wife bending over him so she assumed the snake had bitten him and so he fell on the bag of canned goods and injured himself, she went to the kitchen and got a small bottle of whisky and began pouring it down his throat (to keep him warm).

By now the police arrived..................
FREEZE.........

They saw the unconscious man, smelled the whisky and assumed a DRUNKEN fight had occurred, they were about to arrest them when Mr. Phillips tried to explain how it all happened over the little green snake.
The police called an ambulance which took away the injured neighbour and his sobbing wife.

Now the little green snake crawled out under the sofa and one of the policemen (the fair complexioned) drew his gun and fired at it but he missed the snake and hit the leg of the end table.

The table fell over, the lamp on the table shattered and the bulb broke, it started a fire in the drapes.
The other policeman tried to beat out the flames in the process he fell through the window into the yard on top of the family dog's kennel which startled, jumped out of the compound and raced into the street where an oncoming car swerved to avoid it, so the car bashed the parked police car from behind, the police car moved up-front and hit a street light which fell and club a bakery bus vault which has a large cake in it so the cake got damaged.

Meanwhile the other neighbours (The Sleighs) saw the burning drapes and called in fire department.
The firemen had started raising their fire ladder when they were halfway down the street, the raising ladder tore out the overhead wires, put out the power and also disconnected the telephone lines (but they did put the fire out).
Time passed, both men were discharged from the hospital, the house repaired, the dog came home, the police acquired a new car, the security street light was replaced, the bakery van refurbished, another cake was made for the already wedded that is the Sleighs, the dog's kennel reconditioned, the electric cable fixed, the telephone cable fixed too and all was right with their world again....................

WATCH OUT FOR THE CONCLUDING PART

PREVIEW.........
And while watching the TV the weatherman announced a cold snap for that night, the husband at work picked up the phone to tell the wife about the weather condition for the night, so she won't take in the plants for the night....

“Darling he said”, meanwhile the telephone lines were connected wrongly Mr Sleigh picked the phone he responded hi, and he heard again “sweetheart please don't bring in the flowers tonight so the snake won't find us in bed”...
Then Mr. Sleigh he asked his wife if she still wanted to party that night as she had planned, she responded “NOTHIN GONNA STOP ME” my dear
Mr Jones left office, went home then reaches for his cutlass since he could recognise Mr Phillips voice....

What about the snake?.....

Seek Knowledge...

CRITICAL STUDY!!!

Eight monkeys was put in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed on, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder.

One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately
begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly and he has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder.

A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he’s not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he’s attacking the new monkey.

One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why.

And that is how traditions, belief; custom; religions and ethnic profiling get established and followed.

NOTE:

Think twice before following a tradition, belief, custom, religion or negative ethnic profiling.

Take time to read, observe, ask questions, compare notes before making a PERSONAL decision based on FACTS.

It would make more sense if you get your own understanding of a situation before conclusion.

Seek knowledge.

God's OMNIPOTENCE is immeasurable

God uses His sovereign power to encourage people to love each other, but He also allows us to make selfish choices that can tear us apart. God permits calamity so that we can experience His greatest gift – a free will. Without free will, you and I would be robots or lifeless, stuffed animals. Fortunately, God limits His power to let us make our own choices in life. Does your free will nullify God’s omnipotence? No, as Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a man are established by the Lord.” God is so powerful that He can allow you to choose and still work the outcome for His glory.

I was thinking about how God could have been choosing our spouses and directions for us when God can always turn things around in our favor
Does that challenge His omnipotence??

I don't know if you are getting something from all of these explanations.

God wanted us to be free but He wanted us to serve Him in all that we observe.
Can He put us in a tight corner where we will not be comfortable to serve Him?

Personally I doubt that hypothesis

A friend once said ''God ways are ways no one can predict, that even pastors and prophets get confused''.

God creates need(s) so we can become a better person. These are times He wishes to bless us. The greater your problem the greater your promotion.

STOP EXPECTING GOD TO CHOOSE SPOUSES AND OTHER THINGS FOR YOU. HE HAS GIVEN YOU THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE WHATSOEVER YOU WISH. JUST TAKE IT TO HIM AND LET HIM BLESS YOUR CHOICE .....
SAVE YOURSELF THE DOUBT OF HIS OMNIPOTENCE

When medical errors are made.

Medical error has been found to be one of the leading cause of death and injury, most people die in hospitals each year as a result of medical error. Medical errors are classified as human errors in health care, it occurs when a health care provider or specialist chooses the wrong approach to treating its patient or a situation whereby the care provider did not carry out the appropriate method the way it ought to. These two criteria are best defines medical errors, meanwhile when such a circumstance occur the patient bears the brunt, they are the ones that are open to the outcome of the event that has occurred when a medical error occur. Sometimes it is caused as a result of communication error, when one does not understand what is being said, then based the whole session on assumption, this is why in health care it is not right to base treatments on assumption, this idea is not legit. Many of medical errors are products of negligence which is common in the midst of inexperience health professionals. In some cases some patients get the wrong types of drugs because the physician has not written the prescription legibly. Sometimes medical error might pop up due to the patient disposition too. To ensure medical error is brought down to the lowest ebb proper documentation is needed; also health records should be properly tagged so that it will not be mixed up. This will help to fortify the health records security and usage.

Quality organization; quality employees

The relationship between quality employees and quality organization can never be put away because together they bring about a feet sweeping achievement. It would be essential to be organized in the appropriately because it leads to employing the right kind of hands that will be needed to foresee a particular task or position effectively.

Having a quality organization leads to the achievement of the vision statement. Being organized appropriately will hastens productivity also It would become easier for managers to control their teams.

Having quality employees is the second best thing that could happen to an organization. This is the sole entity that can enable an organization to achieving their objectives that have been envisaged in the mission statement. Quality employees bring about great reputation to any organization where they are present. It must be understood also that quality employees needed a quality organization where they can show off their potential, should a very good instructor work in an institution that is not properly organized then all his/her effort might be meaningless since other workers might not be playing their part accordingly.

A quality employee does not just put up maximum effort to tackle difficult task but also understands the ideal reason behind maintaining the quality organization that has been in place.

Quality organization encourages quality employees, a quality organization has all it takes to ensure that an employee becomes a better worker, perform at optimal level and get appropriate earnings, they achieve this feat through the use of trainings, profit sharing and more. Every employee's dream is to work in a quality organization and vice versa.

Who's playing honest graft in Nigeria?

In the book of HONEST GRAFT, according to George Washington the difference between honest graft and dishonest graft is that with honest graft one pursues the interest of one’s party, one’s state and one’s personal interest while with dishonest graft one work solely from one’s interest.

A typical example of honest graf is if you knew there was going to be a new park at a certain place, then you purchased all the lands in that neighbourhood while that of dishonest graft would be politicians and city officials robbing and stealing the city money or property by using their political power.

If properly looked into, you would realize that this differentiation between honest and dishonest graft as stated by George is not 100% honest. However, this form of machine politics clearly does still exist, and it does have at least one merit, individuals who understands that they can get rich from doing a task by putting their money at risk initially, let us say, off the building of a park, they will build that park and make the money off of it, but at the expense of tax payers, the land would eventually be purchased at an inflated rate. If you do not pay much in taxes, then it is not your concern since services would be delivered  to the public at the expense of the rich and average.

Are politicians in Nigeria playing the honest graft at all ?
At the expense of tax payers money if infrastructures were raised and social amenities were put in place; the citizens might not have to curse and neglect their duties to constituted authorities.

In Nigeria privacy should be taken serious in Healthcare.

Privacy is to be taken seriously, there are some vital information about patients that must not be disclosed no matter the occurrence, everyone wants to feel secure. Should certain information be disclosed be it intentionally or unintentionally persons who such information belong to, will find it difficult to move around without covering up their faces; realistically all records must be stored in a retrieval system whereby the can be safeguarded out of reach of anyone.

Confidential heath care is a human right enshrined in law, therefore it has been taken seriously, if the health records of an individual is lost completely then they would not find healthcare secure and meaningful, people like to see their files and information kept for years even after a tenure when they are not going to need them anymore, it is now a thing of advantage that there has been various electronically methods of keeping information.

Should a patient request for their health record and it cannot be provided due to the natural disaster that has destroyed the copies that have been kept, then the patient should be explained to by management and it would be assured to them that there is a kind of format used by the organization that could not be deciphered by anyone outside the health care organization.

Teenagers must be seriously remembered in this occurrence because they do not want their health information to leak out to their parents, friends and strangers. A teenager who sits in a consulting room with his or her doctor can rely on their doctor to keep confidential any information that has been disclosed except an exemption applies.

Permissions for uses and disclosures of facts about any patient, their ailment and treatment are not to be shared except they are  permitted or required as stated by health care law, a covered entity may not use or disclose protected health information without a permission that is equitable under the law, meanwhile when a covered entity obtains or receives a legitimate permission for its use or disclosure of protected health information or report, such use or disclosure of preserved health information must be constant with such permission. Permission is not required in some instances such as in the cases listed below

1. Uses by the creator of the analysis for treatment

2. Uses for training programs in which trainees learn under the supervision to practice and improve their skills in group or individual counseling

3. Use or disclosure by the covered entity to defend itself in a legal action or other proceedings brought by owners of such ingotmation.

But for every other use permission from patient is expected to be granted before usage, some might agree to, without any terms with the physician while other might decide to give conditions with which such facts can be used. If disclosures are done without following the necessary procedures then the owner of such a fact has the right to take it up in the law court for the charge of breaching over privacy.

Every health professional is expected to know the basis of disclosing health information and they are to follow the legal procedures so as to safeguard them from facing the wrath or the law.

Health care has not been a static, so much changes have been made in health care over the years, most of which are benefitting to the hospitals, professional health care workers and the patient alongside. It has also marked merit for the health care industry. In the last 10 years there has been the introduction of modern health care facilities which helps to facilitate the delivery of health care services. Technological advancement has also crept into health care which has made it easier for health professionals to carry out their function in a better way with the maximum amount of precision. There is now the use of syringes that are being controlled electronically by computers; much type of machines have been discovered and introduced by scientist which have made monitoring of patients easier and faster. This is not the area in which health care has developed, if health care facilities are considered, it would be identified that these facilities are better built, attractive and serving purposes. There are many electronically operated doors, beds, wheel chairs and more. Cameras are now used in every patient ward and waiting rooms so as to monitor and to record the way health care is being dispensed, this alone has helped to ensure that every health professional is not doing the wrong thing or treating patients in a manner that is not acceptable by the patients or that is out of healthcare ethics.

All of these are enough to ensure that a patient health records are intact therefore no matter the incidence/disaster heathcare is ahead. We are a modern health care organization so we must be able to harness all that we got in place.
